Our environmental work  

Sustainability in Santa Claus’ Main Post Office is based on the Posti Group's strategy, values and commitments - taking into account economic, social and environmental impacts. Posti's subcontractors and suppliers are expected to follow the same practices and principles.   

Santa Claus' Main Post Office takes concrete action for the environment every day. We are committed to caring for the environment and nature through many concrete actions, such as responsible waste management and recycling.   

Biosphere is a sustainability certificate based on the goals of the UN 2030 Agenda. Biosphere is awarded by the Responsible Tourism Institute (RTI), an independent body established in 1995. The RTI aims to promote sustainable development activities and programmes in tourist destinations and businesses, and Santa Claus' Main Post Office has joined in this work.

We value local culture, community and people, and cherish nature.  

Northern nature and the people that live here are a great resource for us. The water used by Santa Claus’ Main Post Office comes from Neve Oy and electricity from Fortum and it is produced with zero carbon emissions. In addition to caring for a clean and healthy environment, it is important for us to take care of our customers, employees and partners. Continuous improvement is one of our core values.  

Santa Claus' Main Post Office recycles the majority of the waste it generates and recycling is constantly evolving to meet changing requirements and needs.   

We have been operating in the area since the 1980s. We are part of several regional organisations that aim to develop the area. We contribute tax revenue to the region and employ local people all year round. We also use local suppliers and other service providers.   

Staff well-being is important to us  

We invest in staff well-being and good management. We believe that every employee has the right to work under good and fair management. We comply with laws and regulations and always pay wages in line with the collective agreement. We invest in good orientation and provide our staff with training and opportunities to develop their skills. We promote the well-being of our employees by offering benefits for a wide range of sports and cultural activities.  
 

Customer-orientation at the core in everything we do  

Our main goal is to always offer our customers the best service and the best products, according to their wishes and needs. We are constantly developing our own professional skills in order to achieve this goal. Different ergonomic solutions used in Santa Claus’ Main Post Office promote equal accessibility and benefit both customers and staff.   

We are part of the Sustainable Tourism Programme  

We are part of Visit Finland's Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) programme. Companies that have completed the programme and meet the criteria are awarded the STF label in recognition. The STF label recognises the economic, social, environmental and cultural sustainability of tourism operators.
